Seventh (7th) Chord

Did you ever see chords like Am7 or B7, can you play it right away?
If you still confused about this kind of chord, you come to the right place. I’ll tell you how to play this kind of chord.

First of all you should know how chords are shaped, read this if you don’t know Chord Major and Minor
Seventh chords are consist of triad and a 7th note. The triad are 1-3-5. There are different kind of 7th.
Look at this, what’s different between AM7 and A7 or Am7?


AM7 mean is A Major 7, that is consist of A Major chord with addition of 7th note. So the AM7 are consists of 1-3-5-7 or A-C#-E-G# .

A7 mean is A Dominant 7, this is different with AM7 because A7 are A Major with addition of a 7th note turned half step down, even though its written A7. So A7 are consist of 1-3-5-7b or A-C#-E-G.

And the last is Am7, the meaning is A Minor 7, so it’s an A minor with addition of 7th note turned half step down. So Am7 are consists of 1-3b-5-7b or A-C-E-G
